CERTIFICATES OF USE AND Contractor Licensing
As of July 1, 2024, the City of Fort Pierce has discontinued the collection of Business Tax Receipts. In its place, the City Commission has adopted Ordinance 24-019, which establishes the requirement for a Certificate of Use for all businesses.
To apply for a Certificate of Use or Professional Contracting License, please visit our online portal at https://fortpiercefl-energovweb.tylerhost.net/apps/selfservice#/home. You will need to register for an account and then apply for the appropriate business or professional license.
Some key elements of the Certificate of Use for your business are as follows:
- Any current business tax receipt holder who does not obtain a Certificate of Use by November 30, 2024, will be required to apply for a new Certificate of Use and undergo all required inspections as if they were a new business.
- Only one (1) Certificate of Use is required per business location. For example, a law firm will need only a single Certificate of Use for the office, rather than a separate business tax receipt for each attorney, as was previously required.
- Certificates of Use are valid for one (1) year and will renew annually on the anniversary of the initial application.
