Construction Without a Permit

Inspection of a Completed Structure

This is a clarification of an existing policy enforced by the City of Fort Pierce Building Development Department. There is no provision in the Florida Building Code regarding the inspection of a completed structure. When someone is cited for construction without a permit, a double permit fee will be imposed. If a stop-work order was issued, there is a $100 fee imposed as well.

Certified Design Drawings

Certified design drawings will need to accompany the permit application and a Certification of Completion must be attached which must be sealed by a Florida Registered architect or engineer. The Building Department will review the permit after the certification is received.

If you are unable to obtain a Certificate of Completion, the structure may need to be dismantled so that the proper inspections can be performed.
